Our History
We are very grateful and thankful for our past and to help you understand our business and goals in life we will share our history, what we believe to explain the present and our goals for the future.
Brian was born and raised on a local dairy farm. My parents where Christians and I had the blessing of being raised in Bible believing home where Christian values where taught and practiced.
Emma was born in Lancaster, PA. She also had the blessing of Christian parents and was raised with very similar values.
We were married on Sept 23, 2006 and since have lived in Ontario. We are blessed with the responsibility of raising our family. We trust that by example and training that as our children grow up they will value our beliefs and choose to live in accordance with God’s word.
-From 2006 till 2015 we lived on a 57 acre farm 2km south of brunner , In Jan 2007 we installed our first Greenhouse. We started this under the name Gerber’s Greenhouse and Emma was full time at home and I still held a job off the farm from 2007-2009.
-In 2009 made an investment in some hay equipment and as the greenhouse was expanding I was able to stay home full time and focus on growing the business.
-In 2010 we purchased a strawberry business from Raymond Frey who farmed north of millbank . We planted 4 acres of strawberries in 2010 and had our first crop in 2011.
-As the Greenhouse and strawberry business grew the need for better buildings and more space became apparent. We had the greenhouse attached to the garage and we worked from there. The blessing was that Emma was close to both babies and plants but as the business grew it also brought challenges and we needed to make some decisions on buildings. Do we move the greenhouse or the house?
-In 2014 a 25 acre property between Topping and Gadshill came up for sale. The small farm had a house that was built in 1989 that was set back from the road. It did not take us long to dream of a nice Farm Market situated on the 119 with more visibility to the public. Instead of making any changes to our existing buildings we purchased the property and engulfed on a journey to build market and move business. This endeavor took an excessive amount of time, energy and funds but we are trusting that long term it will be a blessing to both the community and our family.
-Our business now runs under the name of Cedar Crest Acres and our season starts with our market opening in April with garden seeds, flowers, and continues thru summer with fresh fruit and vegetables
We are living our dream with a commitment to serving the community with fresh local product. A family farm where we trust our values show through our lives and into every day life.
